How to Play The Annoying Fly

A complete guide to the controls, scoring and progression systems. Everything here reflects the game as it is right now.

The objective

One fly, sixty seconds. The fly darts away from your cursor and teleports when you get close, so the goal is to land as many clean hits as you can before the timer runs out. Faster reactions and unbroken streaks produce the highest scores.

Controls

On desktop, move the mouse and click directly on the fly. On touch screens, tap the fly itself - dragging or swiping does nothing. Anything you click that is not the fly counts as a miss, so aim before you commit.

The 60-second Normal Hunt

A Normal Hunt lasts 60 seconds and starts after a short 3-2-1 countdown. The fly speeds up and changes direction more aggressively as the round progresses, so late hits are the hardest ones. When the timer ends, the results panel shows your score, hits, misses, accuracy, best combo and reaction time.

Catches, misses and reaction time

Each catch awards points based on how quickly you reached the fly after it moved. A quick catch is worth more than a slow one. Misses cost you nothing in points but they break your combo and lower your accuracy.

Accuracy and combo scoring

Accuracy is your hits divided by your total clicks or taps. Consecutive catches build a combo that multiplies the value of each following catch; a single miss resets the combo to zero. Consistency beats frantic clicking.

Daily Challenge

The Daily Challenge is a separate run with its own rules that rotate every day. It is the same for every player on the same date, and it is tracked separately from Normal Hunt on the leaderboard.

Verified leaderboard

Leaderboard scores are verified on the server. Each round is issued a session and the final score is recalculated from the recorded round events, which means a score can only be accepted if the play that produced it is plausible. Rounds that were paused or lost focus stay in your local history but are not eligible for the leaderboard. You can filter by Daily, Weekly and All-Time, by Normal Hunt or Daily Challenge, and by Global or your own country.

Hunter Profile and optional country

You play as a guest hunter - no email and no registration. Your profile holds a nickname and, if you want, a country. The country is optional and can be left as "Prefer not to say"; after your first choice it can be changed once every 30 days. Nickname and country may appear next to your verified scores on the public leaderboard.

Available and Lifetime Hunt Points

Every completed round awards Hunt Points. Lifetime Hunt Points are your total earned and never go down - they are your progression record. Available Hunt Points are the balance you can actually spend in the Fly Vault, so buying a skin reduces Available Hunt Points while Lifetime stays intact.

Fly Vault and cosmetic skins

The Fly Vault holds the fly skins, grouped by rarity. Skins are purely cosmetic: they change the artwork, animation and buzz audio of your fly, and they give no gameplay advantage of any kind. Buying one with Available Hunt Points unlocks it permanently, and your equipped skin is remembered between sessions. You can equip a skin and jump straight into a hunt from the Vault.

Rewarded skin trials

Temporary rewarded skin trials are part of the design but are not available right now. Advertising is disabled, and a trial will only ever be granted after a real advertising provider confirms a completed reward. Until then, skins are obtained with Hunt Points only.

Pause and audio

You can pause during a round; the fly stops and the timer holds. Pausing or leaving the tab makes that round ineligible for the leaderboard, but the result is still saved locally. Sound can be toggled at any time and the preference is stored on your device.

Why was my score not on the leaderboard? The round was likely paused, lost focus, or could not be verified on the server.

Do skins make the fly easier to catch? No. They are cosmetic only.

Can I play on a phone? Yes, tap controls are supported on mobile and tablet.

Are bots or auto-clickers allowed? No. Automated input and score manipulation are not permitted and such scores can be rejected or removed.
